A small methane explosion injured one contractor who was working on the replacement of an irrigation pump in a well pit 150 feet south of the school. The worker was airlifted to the hospital with burns to his hands and face.

No students or faculty members were injured.

A Hazmat team member was on site to assess the problem and will contact the state. An inspection unit from the state will assess the situation and direct a course of action.

The schools will be closed on Wednesday, August 15th while we wait for the inspection unit.

When more information is available we will contact the families and staff with an update.
